Four Important Things to Know about the MSA Altair 4XR

The Altair 4XR Multi-gas Detector is a reliable, rugged, and real-time instrument introduced by MSA Safety, the global leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of safety products. With its XCell sensors, the 4XR is suitable for use in industries such as fire service, contracting, industrial, mining, oil and gas and utilities. Backed by a 4-year warranty, this detector comes with a charger, a calibration cap and a short piece of tubing.

Here are the top 4 features which make the Altair 4XR a must-have gas detector:

    1. It is a multi-gas monitor: this detector is capable of simultaneously detecting up to four gases including levels of combustible gases (LEL), oxygen (O2), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrogen sulphide (H2S).

It has Bluetooth Connectivity: A key upgrade included with the Altair 4XR is Bluetooth connectivity. Simply download the app from the Google Play store and pair the 4XR with your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. Once connected to the MSA Altair Connect app in the Google Play Store, A blue LED will flash to show the Bluetooth connectivity is in place. The device can then send live gas readings as well as real-time incident awareness (InstantAlert distress calls, man-down alarms and non-compliance warnings) to team members, supervisors, safety managers and others when paired with the app via a Bluetooth wireless connection.

It has LED lights to indicate compliance: Compliance-wise, the Altair 4XR offers a useful upgrade in terms of at-a-glance awareness of its status. Lights on top of the monitor are useful in indicating compliance. A flashing red LED shows that the unit has not been bump-tested. This will turn green when it has been bump-tested. The blue flashing light will indicate the device’s Bluetooth status, while yellow alerts that there is a fault.

It is a tough detector: The Altair 4XR is IP68-rated and has been tested to survive 25 drops from heights of around 4 feet. It can also operate in -40°F to +140°F (-40°C to +60°C) environments. In a nutshell, it is designed to be durable enough to withstand workplaces, which makes it the toughest 4-gas monitor on the market.
