Cyclohexane is a colourless, highly flammable liquid hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C₆H₁₂. It has a mild, sweet, petrol-like odour. Cyclohexane is an important industrial solvent and chemical, widely used in manufacturing.

One of the main uses of cyclohexane is in the production of nylon. It is used to manufacture intermediates such as adipic acid and caprolactam, which are key components in nylon fibres and plastics. As a result, cyclohexane is commonly found in petrochemical plants.

It is highly flammable and can form explosive vapour, particularly in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas. Vapour exposure may cause dizziness, headaches, nausea and irritation of the respiratory system. In high concentrations, it can depress the central nervous system.
