Bump test is a quick functional check where a known concentration of gas is applied to the detector to confirm that sensors and alarms respond correctly. This should be carried out frequently. Industries such as oil & gas, construction, utilities, and wastewater should carry out a bump test before each use as these industries can be high risk environments.

Fixed and portable gas sensors naturally drift due to environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and exposure to contaminants. Regular calibration using calibration gas bottles restores accuracy and keeps your detector within its specified tolerance (usually it is ±5%).
