R12 Gas Detectors
Dichlorodifluoromethane, commonly known as R12, is a chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerant gas that was widely used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems during the 20th century. It is a colourless, non-flammable gas with a slightly sweet odour and the chemical formula CCl₂F₂.
R12 was typically found in older refrigeration units. It was also used in some aerosol propellants and as a cleaning solvent in precision electronics. Its widespread use in these systems means that gas detectors for R12 are mainly required when servicing or decommissioning older equipment.
