Chlorine Gas Detectors

Chlorine (Cl₂) is a highly reactive, greenish yellow gas with a strong odour. Chlorine is most commonly associated with water and wastewater treatment, where it is used as a disinfectant to eliminate bacteria. Beyond the water sector, chlorine is a fundamental raw material in chemical manufacturing and is used in the production of PVC. It is also used within leisure facilities such as swimming pools to maintain water hygiene standards, and in the food and drinks industry for sanitation and sterilisation processes.

Exposure may cause irritation to the eyes and skin, coughing, breathing difficulties, chest pain, and, at higher concentrations, significant lung damage. In the UK, the Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL) for chlorine is 0.5 ppm over an eight-hour time-weighted average and 1 ppm over a fifteen-minute short-term exposure limit.

Rockall Safety offers a range of chlorine gas detection solutions suited to different environments and risk levels. The Blackline G8 provides real-time monitoring and the BW Flex 4 is a multi-gas detector capable of monitoring chlorine alongside other gases.
