Phosphine Gas Detectors

Phosphine (PH₃) is a colourless, highly toxic and flammable gas with a distinctive garlic or fish-like odour at detectable levels. It is a phosphorus-containing compound primarily used in industrial and agricultural applications.

Phosphine is most commonly used as a fumigant in agriculture to protect stored grain from pests. It is generated from metal phosphide formulations (such as aluminium phosphide) that release phosphine gas when exposed to moisture.

Phosphine presents significant health and safety risks. It is highly toxic when inhaled and can affect the respiratory system, lungs, heart, and central nervous system. Symptoms of exposure may include chest tightness, coughing, headache, dizziness, nausea, and in severe cases, pulmonary oedema or organ failure.

Rockall Safety supplies a range of gas detection equipment, including all of the phosphine-detecting products shown in the attached image. These include the BW Solo Single Gas Detector (configured for PH₃), the Crowcon Gasman Single Gas Detector, the Crowcon Xgard Fixed Gas Detector, Dräger Detection Tubes (Phosphine 50/A), the Dräger Pac 8000 Single Gas Detector and more!

If you have any questions about Phosphine, please contact our team at 02920 759 683 or fill in the form here. We would be happy to help you choose the right one for your needs.
