R32, also known as Difluoromethane, is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant increasingly used in modern air conditioning and heat pump systems. Its chemical formula is CH₂F₂, and it is a colourless gas under standard conditions.

R32 has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0), making it safe for the ozone layer, and it has a significantly lower global warming potential (GWP ≈ 675) compared to older refrigerants like R410A (GWP ≈ 2088).
