R407A is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant commonly used in air conditioning and heat pump systems. It is a blend of three components: R32 (23%), R125 (25%), and R134a (52%). Developed as a replacement for the ozone-depleting R22, R407A has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0) and is widely used in medium-temperature refrigeration and cooling applications.

One important characteristic of R407A is its temperature glide of around 6°C, meaning it evaporates and condenses over a range of temperatures rather than at a single point, which must be considered when charging systems or designing heat exchangers.
