What is the Best Dräger Gas Detector?
Choosing the right Dräger portable gas detector can be a challenge with so many options available, from single-gas to multigas models, diffused or pumped, and even Bluetooth-enabled devices. To make the decision easier, Rockall Safety has created a detailed video that breaks down the key features of each Dräger detector. The video explains which gases each model can detect, highlights Bluetooth connectivity options, and clarifies which detectors include internal or optional pumps, helping you find the perfect solution for your specific application.
Drager ‘PAC’ Range
When working in the field, maintaining a safe environment is essential. The Dräger PAC series of single gas detectors provides fast and reliable monitoring of atmospheric gases using advanced sensor technology. Built for tough conditions, each PAC device features a durable, chemical-resistant rubber housing that performs even in extreme environments. With powerful sensors and a rapid T-90 response time, these detectors deliver instant alerts to any changes in gas levels.
Designed to be both cost-effective and low maintenance, the PAC range helps reduce ongoing costs with minimal gas consumption during function tests. All models are rated IP68, offering maximum protection against dust and water, while built-in filters shield sensors from damage and contamination. The user-friendly design includes large, language-free displays with bright backlighting for easy readability in any environment. Key information such as battery life and operating time is clearly shown, and colour-coded sensor variants make identification simple and accurate.
The PAC series includes four models, each designed for different applications. Explore the range to find the ideal Dräger PAC detector for your specific requirements.
Dräger PAC 6000 Gas Detector
The dräger PAC 6000 reliably detects CO, H2S, SO2, or O2 levels, even in extreme conditions. Its rugged design ensures durability, while the fast-acting sensors provide quick and accurate readings. With a powerful battery, this single-use device operates for up to two years with minimal maintenance. However, as a disposable model, it cannot be recharged.
Dräger PAC 6500 Gas Detector
Similar to the PAC 6000, the PAC 6500 also features a two-year battery life. However, unlike the 6000 model, its battery can be replaced, allowing for extended use. This single-gas detector accurately monitors CO, H2S, SO2, or O2 levels. In addition to standard alarms, the PAC 6500 offers customisable secondary alarms for Threshold Limit Values and Short-Term Exposure Limits. Its 360° alarm system includes visual, audible, and vibrating alerts to ensure users are promptly notified of any hazards.
Dräger PAC 8000 Gas Detector
The dräger PAC 8000 is a versatile option capable of detecting up to 29 gases, including specialised gases not covered by other models. These include carbon dioxide (CO2), chlorine (Cl2), hydrogen cyanide (HCN), ammonia (NH3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), phosphine (PH3), and organic vapours (OV or OV-A). This reusable device excels at detecting trace levels of special gases, such as ozone (O3) at concentrations as low as 0.02 ppm.
Dräger PAC 8500 Gas Detector
The PAC 8500 stands out by offering dual-gas detection with its specialised sensor configurations. It can simultaneously monitor O2/CO or H2S/CO, allowing users to track multiple gases with a single device. This dual detection capability enhances safety while reducing downtime. Designed for long-term use, the dräger PAC 8500 has a two-year service life and requires no calibration or maintenance during operation. This significantly lowers costs and maximises efficiency.
Drager ‘X-am’ Range
The Dräger X-am range is a series of portable multigas and single-gas detectors designed to monitor workplace atmospheres for hazardous gases and vapours. These detectors are widely used across industries such as oil and gas, utilities, construction, and confined space entry due to their accuracy, durability, and ease of use. Unlike the ‘PAC’ range, most X-am products detect more than 1 gas, making most of them multi-gas detectors. Only one X-am detects one gas, and that is the Drager X-am 5100.
Drager X-am 2600
The X-am 2600 multi-gas detector measures flammable gases, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide. The Dräger Gas Detection Connect software offers live data transmission and powerful fleet management. The instrument has been optimised for personal monitoring in diffusion mode and ensures a high degree of safety with extremely low operating costs. The device comes with an initial three-year service period, which can be extended as needed with additional licences.
Drager X-am 2800
The X-am® 2800 multi-gas detector measures up to four gases and is equipped with a particularly shock-resistant CatEx sensor. With the Dräger Gas Detection Connect software, it offers live data transmission and powerful fleet management. Designed for personal monitoring, the X-am® 2800 offers the highest level of safety at a low cost of ownership.
Drager X-am 3500
The Dräger X-am 3500 was especially designed for clearance measurements. The 1 to 4 gas detector reliably detects flammable gases and vapours as well as O2, CO, H2S, NO2 and SO2. The innovative signalling design and extensive range of accessories ensure optimum safety and easy handling.
Drager X-am 5000
