Introduction
Blackline Safety sell three portable gas detectors. These include the Blackline Safety G6 which is a single gas detector, capable of only detecting one specific gas. You then have the Blackline Safety G7 which is capable of detecting up to 5 gases (it has 4 sensor ports but can allow a dual sensor). Lastly you have the Blackline Safety G8, the G8 is a newer version than the G7, has all the capabilities to the G7 but has additional features. They also offer an area monitor called the Blackline Safety EXO 8. In this blog, we will be focusing on their portable range and comparing each of their products.
Blackline Safety G6
As we mentioned in the introduction, the Blackline Safety G6 is a single gas detector, which means it is capable of detecting one specific gas. Gases available are: CO, O2, SO2 and H2S. This single gas detector isn’t just a beep and alarm model, it has direct to cloud connectivity which connects to Blackline Live Platform which shows where the worker is onsite.
This product also has emergency SOS which sends a notification directly to the designated contacts on site. The G6 doesn’t need connecting to do firmware updates either, updates are done over the air so no need for manual updates.
Blackline Safety G7
The Blackline Safety G7 was the first multi gas detector created by Blackline. It can detect up to 5 gases and has 2G/3G/4G LTE cellular connectivity. The G7 can work as a single gas detector, a multi gas detector and also has a pumped option so you can draw gas into the device in harder to reach areas. The G7 has AlertLink, this feature allows other devices to be notified if your gas detector starts to detect a hazardous gas. AlertLink has a huge radius of 5km! It also has push to talk radio built in.
Blackline Safety G8
The Blackline Safety G8 has all of the amazing features that the G7 has but with some additional enhancements. Connectivity is the same, the amount of gases it can detect are the same. Enhancements include an improved audio for the built in push to talk radio. It now has a push to talk button so it is easier for you to talk to your other colleagues. It also has a built in flashlight so you can see if darker areas. Another big feature is the TagAssign. TagAssign allows each user to assign themselves to a certain gas detector. It is simple to do and allows the process of grabbing a G8 and getting to work a lot easier. Once assigned, they are automatically connected and ready to go!
